Below is the guidance taken from the Scottish government website. We've taken the headlines to offer some guidance for safe hires.
During the most recent announcement the rules relating to the meeting of people out doors is summarised below:
"You can meet people from another household indoors or outdoors for certain reasons, such as for work, to join your extended household or to provide care and support for a vulnerable person. This can include providing emotional support for someone whose wellbeing is at risk, including for those who are isolated because of disability, a caring situation or a parent or carer of a child under one. (See Coronavirus (COVID-19): advice for unpaid carers ) Anyone aged 12 and over should maintain 2 m physical distance from anyone from another household. Children aged 11 and under do not need to stay physically distanced.
Meeting people from other households outdoors for sport, exercise, socialising, or recreation is also allowed in small numbers as follows:
- in a group including an adult over 18, a maximum of 4 people from 2 households
- in a group where everyone is aged 12 to 17, a maximum of 4 young people from 4 households
2m physical distancing should be maintained between members of different households.
Any children aged 11 and under from those households can also join these groups and do not count in the total.
Children aged 11 and under meeting together outdoors are not subject to the limit on households or numbers.
Those at a higher risk of severe illness from coronavirus (including those who are or had been shielding, people 70 and over, people who are pregnant and people with an underlying medical condition) should strictly follow the physical distancing guidance.
It is against the law to consume alcohol in any outdoors public place in any Level 4/Stay at Home area.
Marches, parades and static demonstrations are not allowed at this time."
What this means for your hire
- Children under 12 do not require to socially distance so small parties for those 12 and under are acceptable
- Especially where this is restricted to small gatherings with family and close relatives
- Adults over 18 cannot meet outdoors where there is more than4 people from more than 2 households. Therefore, we recommend staggered drop-off's if your having a kids party.
- Children meeting under 11 can join groups and do not count towards the numbers. However, this can be difficult to control large groups out doors. We suggest parties with small groups staggered for 2 hour intervals. So more short parties with less numbers is best!!!
- We do not recommend inviting grandparents, especially over the age of 70.
- You are not allowed to consume alcohol - but we recommend a glass of wine later once all the kids have vacated!!
